Théo Schildkamp

Theo was an art history professor and a professional illustrator for many years. He only paints now and each of his pieces is original in composition, he uses no models. Each of his creations comes from his mind. He only paints women because historically women are featured in art as being closer to nature than men. The combination of women and animals evokes an atmosphere of surrealism, magic realism, and symbolism.

Theo was born in Apeldoom, Netherlands, and lived in Provence, France for 25 years. He resides in Boekelo, Netherlands, but still spends much time in France. He speaks Dutch, English, German, and French fluently.

His work is found in exhibitions in Germany, Amsterdam, and Taiwan. Creative Gateways is currently the only gallery in the US that shows his work.
